A Love Story
Our Story
How We Met
A Game of Chess
It all started at the gazebo on UConn's West Campus in Storrs, Connecticut. Brendan had noticed Sarah, and finally one afternoon - over a game of chess - they actually spoke. She was sweet, charming, and had a joy about her that was impossible to miss. He was sharp, kind, and had a quiet confidence about him. That single conversation was the jump start to the forever journey that was about to take off.

Growing Together
Built on Friendship
What followed were years of deeper friendship, growth, and constant laughter. Brendan discovered that Sarah is an incredible cook and a gifted piano player with a heart bigger than anyone he's ever known. Sarah learned that Brendan is quick to learn just about anything, and do it well. Whether it was board game nights, competitive rounds of Mario Kart, or afternoons on the boat, each moment was memorable because they were together. After years of life changes, both of their careers landed them in New Haven. Here, they solidified what they already knew - that God was paving their way to marriage.
The Proposal
Back to the Gazebo
Brendan knew he had to return to the place where it began. With the help of Sarah's best friend and sisters, the vision came to life. A day trip back to UConn, walking through campus, reflecting back on old memories was the perfect way to ask Sarah the question he'd be wanting to ask for several years. When they reached the gazebo, they were surrounded by lit candles, scattered roses, and photographs of their years together. It brought to life the story they had been writing for the past eight years. Eight years after a game of chess, he finally got his queen. Checkmate.
